Supporting Children With SLCN in a Setting - PPSLCN-599 (10 November 2018 9:30 - 12:30)

Outline

The aim of this course is to support Early Years Settings to understand and support children with difficulties in speech, language and communication.

Description

This training session includes learning focused on children who have difficulties understanding language, have speech delay, have poor listening and attentive skills or English as an additional language (EAL). It will explore development, highlight the difficulties that children may have within a setting, the impact on behaviour and give practical strategies to support children.

Outcomes

By the end of the training participants will be able to:

  • Understand language development

  • Start to understand the impact of delayed speech and difficulties in language and communication

  • Understand issues around communication and be able to view this from a child’s perspective.

  • To be confident in using a range of strategies to support children within a setting.

Booking Information

This course is offered to you at £30.

We do not accept cancellations or non attendance. If you do cancel or fail to attend this course, you will be charged a £30 administration fee.

Please ensure that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the course is due to start as latecomers will be asked to leave.

The trainer will focus on the specific learning and will not engage in conversations inappropriate to the task in hand.
Learners will be openly encouraged to do the same.
Each individual is responsible for their own learning and if there is anything they feel they should raise regarding the training they should do so with the trainer during the session
Each individual is expected to make a contribution, which will be valued and listened to
Individuals should respect the learning environment and try not to disrupt the training
There should be mutual respect within the group for individuals and their experiences
Naive questions will be considered the norm

We commit to speaking confidentially whilst on this training. However, if you share anything with us (during or after the training) that is cause for concern, we have a duty to follow it up. This may mean speaking to your manager, to Ofsted, to Social Care or to the LADO
